Photography Series: Framing

The next series for my photography posts is all about framing your shot. It gives depth and perspective and, in my opinion, adds interest to a photo. There are a few ways to do this:

  • Framing with overhanging branches (could be on one side, all sides or anywhere in between) or framing with nature below (such as a garden)
  • Completely surrounding your subject with a window or door (such as through an airplane window)
  • Framing your subject by using people (I love a lot of wedding shots that do this)
  • Using focus: the foreground or background can be focus to provide depth

Here are a few shots where I purposefully tried framing the subject.
