I’ve been so good lately about my health – staying on track with eating healthy, exercising regularly and stretching. (If there’s one thing about fitness I don’t like it’s stretching – after a workout I just want to go home and relax!) So, I wanted to make sure to stay on track on my girls weekend getaway to Niagara Falls, (read all about it here).
I had a cold leading up to the weekend away and when I’m sick I have no appetite. I think this was a good thing for both my wallet and not over-indulging!
Day one (lots of driving): 7,619 steps (5 km), 6 flights of stairs
Day two (wine tour and exploring Niagara Falls): 17,169 steps (10.9 km), 7 flights of stairs + 30 minute cardio in the hotel gym
Day three (Niagara-on-the-Lake): 12, 232 steps (7.5 km), 13 flights of stairs + 1 hour workout in the hotel gym
For breakfast the first day we stopped at Tim Horton’s to grab a breakfast sandwich and a tea. We stopped in Waterloo for lunch and I ordered a beer, burger and a bowl of soup but only managed to drink the beer and eat the soup (like I said, no appetite when sick). For dinner, we went to an Italian restaurant and I managed to keep down some bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
The second day, I ate my burger for breakfast from lunch the day before (okay, not the healthiest breakfast but I can’t let food go to waste). Lunch was at Caroline’s Cellar where I ordered the (amazing) ravioli and we drank some wine throughout the day and snacked on chocolate at the Chocolate FX factory and ice cream from Cow’s Dairy. For dinner we stopped at Kasbah and I ordered the souvlaki, eating about half and saving the rest for the next day.
The third day, I gobbled up my leftovers from Kasbah for breakfast. For lunch, we stopped at Shaw’s Cafe and I ordered the lasagna and Caesar salad. I finally had my appetite back and ate the entire meal! (Also, the lasagna was delicious and I couldn’t stop).
I managed to take zero pictures of my food so here is a picture of the wine flight my friend ordered at Shaw’s Cafe.
